FAQ
Why Hire a Professional? - As simple as it looks to just buy some cheap face paint and splash it on the face, not everyone is going to be able to give a professional job. With many years of experience, painting faces since 2015, we have painted hundreds of faces. I use only top quality professional paints and equipment to produce top quality faces. With many hours of practice I am able to paint at a reasonable speed, which is what you need for little ones who don’t like sitting still for too long, it also means I am able to get through more faces.
What areas do you cover? - We are located in Wayland, Michigan—half way between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. I serve anywhere within 30 miles of 49348 zip code and am happy to travel anywhere throughout West Michigan and the Lakeshore. Negotiable travel fees may apply. Be sure to give to give me plenty of notice and I will try my best to make it.
What sort of face paint do you use? -All the paints we use are high quality FDA Compliant cosmetic grade paints, designed for use on the skin. The brands I choose are vegan and are not tested on animals. All glitter is approved for cosmetic use and is safe around the eyes. The environment is also important to Face Paint Culture. Ask about biodegradable glitter for your event!
Why is it so important to use professional cosmetics? -"Non-Toxic" does not mean "safe for skin". Acrylic paints (AKA craft paints or tempura paints) are not meant to be used on the skin - nor are watercolor markers or pencils. Many people are allergic to the non-FDA approved chemicals and colorants used in craft paints and will break out in a rash when these paints are used. Watercolor/washable markers do not easily wash off skin - the term "washable" refers to their ability to wash off fabric easily, not skin. Professional-grade cosmetic face paints have been thoroughly tested. They are designed to be easy to work with, long lasting, comfortable to wear, vibrant and most importantly, they are safe!
Are The Paints Easy to Remove? -Most of the face paint should wash off with just warm water or a baby wipe. However, some colours can occasionally be a little tougher to remove. For this I recommend, rubbing a little, baby oil/tear free shampoo, make up remover, and washing off. I generally recommend washing off before going to bed, as some colours can rub off and may leave a slight mark on the pillow case.
How do you clean your face painting gear? - To keep everything clean and tidy we use baby wipes and hand sterilizer. Brushes and sponges are used only once per child per color and sterilized and cleaned between parties. For health and safety reasons, we will not face paint anyone who appears to have a skin condition or any form of illness – instead maybe offering a neat arm design.
How many faces can you paint in an hour? - I can usually paint between 8 – 12 faces an hour, depending on the complexity of the design. For larger events I can cut back to very simple designs and could do up to 24 faces.
How can I pay you? - I require a 50% deposit approximately 14 days in advance of your event. Dates are not considered booked until deposit has been received and cleared by the bank. I accept cash, check or PayPal. Payment must be in full on the day of your event.
What do I need to supply? - I provide all of my own face paint and gear. I just need a small space to set up, with good lighting and cover from the sun on hot days or shelter from the wind and rain in bad weather, indoors or outdoor is fine. If you are able to provide a table and chair that is great otherwise I can provide my own.
Do you do charity events? - We love to help out where we can, talk to us and see what we can come up with to help you out.
Do you only do face painting? - No, we also do baby bump paintings, and can also paint parts of the body. We love to try new things so don’t hesitate to ask if there is something specific you want done. We also offer Glitter Bars which are a big hit at Weddings, Proms and Festivals.
How do I make a booking? - The easiest way to make a booking is to email me at FacePaintCulture@gmail.com as soon as you have an idea of a date, booking early is always best as we can book up fast. In the email it would be great if you could let us know the date and time of the event, the type of event, the location and approximate ages and number of faces to be painted, and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
